About Paul and Paula's Plaza, Inc

We are a friendly family based business that believes in treating each customer as we ourselves wish to be treated - Courteously, Professionally, Timely, and with open communication.

There are several reasons why a used bookshop and on line appealed to Us.  The on line storefront has many advantages - it is the wave of the here and now - we can no longer say the future because our technology is advancing in leaps and bounds and what the communication highway will consist of 10, 5. or even one year from now is only envisioned by those 'geeks' in the backroom leapfrogging from one advance to another.

Our clients are global, both cosmopolitan and also in the more rural areas in the US, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Germany where the books in question cannot be found or if found are for a much pricier tag than what we offer.

Each individual book in our care is looked upon with respect be it sold at rock bottom for $1 [moderate to heavy wear but gently read] to a minimum of 10% less than at any other on line bookstore for a book in like new to very good condition.   Each book has it's defects listed so there are no surprises when the item arrives. The book is put into waterproof wrap before it is wrapped for shipment.  To us each book represents a chunk of tree that was cut down to produce goods for our pleasure and recycling is the key to maintaining our resources for our future generations.

I, Paula, have been involved with recycling all my life - as a young child raised by my grandparents who survived the Great Depression, I was taught to reuse until it can be remade into something else.  This was taking man made and putting them into the cycle of life.  In the 1990's while living in Columbia County in Oregon, I was on the Waste Management Committee as one of the advocates for recycling which was not mandatory up until then.  I had previously been involved  with several housing projects in the Greater Portland area in leading the tenants into recycling to keep rent costs down.

I have had a love of books all my life [my mother said I started reading at the age of 2]and the only goal I have had that I have not met is becoming a Librarian.

I recently wrote a children's book which was published [Publish America] and released in June of 2009 entitled, Mandy The Alpha Dog, the first book in the Chronicles of The K-9 Boys and Girls on Locus Street. Prescott Shene, the illustrator, is pictured with Shadow, the live inspiration for the comic sidekick featured in Mandy The Alpha Dog. The book deals with fears, mistreatment, overeating, obesity, biting, forgiveness and becoming a winner as Mandy tells her 'harrowing' tale of a puppy mill childhood, being sold into but failing at a show dog environment, and more before arriving at her 'forever' home.  This is told  to Shadow her comedic sidekick.  All the books in this series do and will deal with serious life issues but will be told in a humorous fashion to touch the absurdity that the 7-12 year old enjoys.  This book is also showcased at our on line bookshop.  You can read more about the book at  www.mandythealphadog.vpweb.com   and about the whole gang at    www.pshene.webs.com/

I know that  e books are also in our near future - many standard books are being released either in e book form, or along with a printed form..  [For now] I have some free e reads in this series, The Chronicles of The K-9 Boys and Girls at Locus Street at http://www.bookrix.com/-paulashene

To sum it up. for us our belief is that we all need to do our own little part in keeping our globe alive and flourishing and rescuing the used and handling with TLC is our motto - be it a book or a living entity.  So let's all turn over that Old Leaf and enjoy reading a recycled book.
